Nut. Chestnut Nut trees have always been popular with the keen orchardist but you do need quite a bit of space for them. Medium to large, high quality, sweet nuts ripen about March and fall free of their prickly 'burr'. Very heavy crops on mature trees. Self pollinating. Deciduous. Worth a try.

A medium sized, spreading tree with glossy green foliage that produces edible chestnuts in autumn. Nuts are typically roasted or preserved. Prefers to be grown in full sun with acidic type soils that are well-drained. Useful as a feature tree that provides good shade during the Summer months.

A highly attractive tree reaching 5m in height with beautiful cascading soft green leaves. The light green rounded fruit is medium in size and pack with delicious flavoured fruit with a hint on lemon. Great for warmer climates but will not tolerate coastal conditions. Frost tender when young.

The yield will depend on whether hand pollination is performed.
