A heavy cropping black currant with good disease resistance. Prefers morning sun and afternoon shade. The currants are ripe mid summer.

Black currants will grow in sun or semi-shade. They like deep acid soil that does not completely dry out in summer when the fruit are setting. They fruit on the new seasons wood which develops after pruning.

The Black Currant produces a fruit that is high in Vitamin C with a tart sharp taste. 'Magnus' is disease resistant, a reliable producer and has an upright habit. The currants are ripe late Dec-Jan. Delicious and deciduous.

This variety has been bred to produce big fat berries. Excellent in jams, jellies, juices and pies and they freeze easily. Self-fertile but improve harvest with a pollinator. Deciduous.

Requires less chill hours than traditional varieties.

Red Currants differ from Black Currants in that they fruit on the older developed wood (branches) of the bush.

Prune the main shoots of your Red Currant back by about 1/2 in winter to encourage new fruiting laterals. Remember that Red Currants mainly fruit on older wood.

Dragonfruit tree is a cactus native to southern Mexico and Central America. The fruit of this variety, also known as Pitaya, has a bright red skin with green scales that resemble a dragon. The pulp is red with small black seeds. Very large (25-30 cm) white flowers open overnight and wither by morning.
