Nut. Hazelnuts are highly valued for their delicious taste plus the fact that they are high in protein and unsaturated fat. 'Ennis' is an abundant cropper with nuts that are large, tasty and attractive. Deciduous.

Harvest Hazelnuts as they drop in February and March. Your nuts should be dried thoroughly before storing away.

Nut. Not only is this a great looking deciduous tree that is extremely hardy it will also provide you with delicious, nutritious Hazelnuts in January/February. The large round nuts are packed with Vitamin E and anti-oxidants. Pollinate with Alexandra or Whiteheart. Deciduous.

Hazelnuts are harvested when they fall naturally to the ground an should be dried thoroughly prior to storage.

Nut. NZ bred variety, one of the best! Well filled nut with a 'high crackout' - a great producer in other words! Nuts keep well. Useful hedging or screening shrub. Hardy and easy to grow. Pollinate with Alexandra or Merveille de Bolwiller. Deciduous.

aka Inga Bean

Something different. More suitable for warmer climates but may tolerate light frosts. Can be an attractive tree with rich dark green and bronze foliage. Pods up to 1m long contain sweet, juicy, white pulp with a soft candy-floss-like flesh that tastes of vanilla ice-cream. Self-fertile.

Tree will start producing pods in 3 years.
Suitable for warmer areas including Auckland/Northland

Great specimen tree or ideal as a shade tree that will add interest to any garden. It's very cold hardy as its deciduous, however late frost can damage new shoots. Better to be grown in a warm sheltered position. Full sun.

The swollen stalks can be eaten fresh or added to dishes where you use dried fruit. They can be stored for 2 months where the flavour improves. The swollen stalks taste like crunchy raisins. Stalks can be hand picked from the tree or left to naturally drop.

A large, fast-growing tree with a single erect trunk & spreading crown. Dark-brown edible nuts and highly-valued dark timber. Intolerant of clay and poor drainage. A great tree for firewood. Needs a sheltered site with good soil. Deciduous. Hardy.

A large tree with a rounded head which is valued for its timber and edible nuts. Easily grown but needs space as it grows into an immense tree. Fruit is produced in late summer and is great for eating. Seed Grown.

aka Kumquat Hybrid, Calamansi

Citrus. This little ornamental citrus is actually a cross between a Tangerine and a Kumquat and has glossy foliage and lovely scented blossom. The bright orange, round, juicy fruit has few seeds and a sharp acidic taste. Popular for candied peel and marmalade. Perfect as a container plant. 'Calamondin' is almost thornless. Evergreen.

Highly ornamental and productive citrus hybrid with edible, small, sour fruit that are juicy and great for culinary purposes, especially Oriental cooking. The variegated foliage and fragrant spring flowers add to the desirability. Looks great in a container if fed and watered regularly. Evergreen.
