aka Eastern Black Walnut

A large, fast-growing tree with a single erect trunk & spreading crown. Dark-brown edible nuts and highly-valued dark timber. Intolerant of clay and poor drainage. A great tree for firewood. Needs a sheltered site with good soil. Deciduous. Hardy.

aka English Walnut

A large tree with a rounded head which is valued for its timber and edible nuts. Easily grown but needs space as it grows into an immense tree. Fruit is produced in late summer and is great for eating. Seed Grown.

aka Queensland Nut

Nut. A popular variety that crops well over a long period. Lovely texture and flavour and nuts of a good size. A handsome tree with glossy green foliage and racemes of pink flowers in summer. Loves the sun, good drainage and fertile soil, must be protected from frost. Evergreen.

To ensure good cross pollination it is recommended that two varieties are planted together. NB Macadamias are toxic to dogs so choose your planting spot with care.

A variety that was bred to withstand wetter growing conditions and the cooler weather. It produces heavy crops of nuts with a high oil content which makes them ideal for roasting. With pink flowers in Spring through Summer it also makes a lovely shade tree. Evergreen. Protect from frosts.

A good choice for the home garden as the nuts drop when they are ripe, making harvesting the yummy nuts easier. With a high oil content they are an early season variety but does better with another variety to pollinate. With pink flowers Spring and Summer the nuts are ready Autumn through Winter. Evergreen.

Stake young plants to help root development in well drained, fertile, sheltered position.

Takes 4-5 years to first fruit and 7-8 months for the nut to mature.

"Colby" produce meaty thin shelled pecans. Nuts mature in May to June when they fall from the tree. The tree will bear pecans after 5 to 7 years. Self fertile but will do better when cross pollinated with Carya Peruque. Plant in full sun, with moist well drained fertile soil. Deciduous.
