Native - An unusual form of our favourite native Pohutukawa that has a distinctive weeping spreading growth habit. Distinctive showy red blooms in summer that birds and bees love. Plant in a sunny spot and protect from harsh frost. Evergreen. PVR.

Metrosideros perforata is a climber growing up 15m high but will grow as a bushy shrub if it has nothing to climb. Usually found flowering at the top of trees in our native bush. In mid summer it has masses of white flowers from white buds. Coastal hardy. Evergreen.

A wonderful little compact shrub with attractive silver-green foliage. Bright red 'pohutukawa' flowers appear throughout the year and peak in the winter months just when the garden needs a little cheering up. Tolerant of hot dry conditions including coastal but does not like harsh frost. Evergreen

aka Wire Plant

A spreading, deciduous shrub that can add interest to any garden and works well contrasted with bold foliage. Brown zig-zag stems with small heart shaped green leaves. A unique habit of growth and foliage makes for a great feature shrub or mass planted. Extremely hardy.

Can be used as a low informal hedge or clipped to shape for a more formal hedge and sculptural topiary.

Generally it is found on lower hills and inland valley floors where soil is fertile and well drained. It is a medium-sized evergreen tree that has small, crinkly leaves that vary from brown-green to bronze-red. Loves a warm climate thats moist and sheltered from hot winds. Evergreen. Native.
