aka NZ Iris This little Iris has to be one of my favourite NZ natives as it has such dainty white "butterfly" flowers. The narrow sword like leaves form a strong clump, the flowers appear in summer followed by ornamental seed pods. Easy to grow in average soil in a sunny position. Evergreen. aka Pohutukawa Native. An excellent form of NZ's 'Christmas Tree' that grows with a clean straight trunk and has few aerial roots therefore highly suitable for street planting or the home garden. Leathery green leaves and of course beautiful red blooms in summer. Very tolerant of coastal conditions but not harsh frost. Evergreen.
