aka King Protea

Luscious leathery leaves and even more luscious satin pink flowers that appear in late winter early spring. The flowers are made up of feathery bracts that cover a large cone. Easy to grow in a sunny position. This "king" is very hardy and will tolerates poor soil and light frost. Evergreen.

To have success with your Protea good drainage is essential. They like a nice light slightly acidic soil. They don't like fertilizer high in phosphates. Generally feeding is not necessary but a slow release with a low phosphate (P) rating is the safest to use. Any pruning should be done after flowering.

A beautiful hybrid that flowers over a long period from Autumn to Spring. The lovely bright pink flower bracts have a maroon centre which are accompined with fresh green oblong leaves. Plant in a free draining soil and prune to shape and size after flowering has finished. Evergreen
