aka Magnolia

This beautiful Magnolia is indeed a sweetheart with large soft pink blooms with a deeper pink centre. Developed in NZ by Mr Peter Cave. The flowers are fragrant and appear from late winter until spring. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in well drained acid soil. Deciduous.

As this Magnolia has a columnar habit i.e. narrow upright growth it is a perfect choice for smaller gardens.

Double, wine-red blossom appears in spring followed by reddish green summer foliage that intensifies in tone in autumn. The crabapple fruits are a purple-red shade. A different and distinctive ornamental cultivar. Happiest in a sunny well drained position. Deciduous.

Richard's Special is a top quality Mandarin with large, sweet, easy peel fruit that have an excellent flavour. The fruit is ripe from August through to October. Happiest in a sunny spot with well drained soil and protection from harsh frost. Evergreen.

Floribunda. This award winning rose has dark shiny foliage and slender pink rose buds that open to blush pink cupped blooms. The sweetly scented flowers appear continuously throughout the summer. With good disease resistance this is overall just a lovely rose. 1991. PVR.

aka Pohutukawa

Native. An excellent form of NZ's 'Christmas Tree' that grows with a clean straight trunk and has few aerial roots therefore highly suitable for street planting or the home garden. Leathery green leaves and of course beautiful red blooms in summer. Very tolerant of coastal conditions but not harsh frost. Evergreen.

Did you know that the name 'Pohutukawa' means 'drenched with spray'? Referring of course to the many beautiful trees growing in precarious positions on NZ's coastline.

Native. Pohutakawa or NZ Christmas Tree. A selected form of our favourite summer tree that has flowers made up of clusters of red stamens that brighten up the green leathery foliage. Happy in a well drained sunny spot with protection from harsh frost especially when young. Evergreen.

Floribunda. An unusual and beautiful rose from Sam McGredy with large, beautifully formed blooms in moody tones of lilac and blue. A good strong grower that holds its shape well and repeats profusely. Unusual grey-green foliage. Lightly scented. 1991 PVR.
