This Magnolia is NZ Bred and will put on a spring show for you with wine red goblet shaped blooms that have a pure white interior - a striking contrast. Healthy, disease resistant green foliage and a nice compact habit. Plant in a sheltered position in acid soil. Est.10yr.growth.

This beautiful Magnolia is indeed a sweetheart with large soft pink blooms with a deeper pink centre. Developed in NZ by Mr Peter Cave. The flowers are fragrant and appear from late winter until spring. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in well drained acid soil. Deciduous.

As this Magnolia has a columnar habit i.e. narrow upright growth it is a perfect choice for smaller gardens.

aka Pohutukawa or NZ Christmas Tree

Native. Who doesn't love the Pohutukawa AKA The NZ Christmas Tree. Attractive leathery blue-grey foliage and unique yet beautiful crimson tufted blooms that appear in summer. Tolerant of harsh conditions and poor soil but doesn't like frost. Evergreen.

This iconic NZ tree is seen at its best along the Thames-Coromandel Coast. It is worth taking a road trip in December-January just to see these coastal beauties in full flower. Pretty good specimens on the road into Whakatane as well.

aka Pohutukawa

Native. An excellent form of NZ's 'Christmas Tree' that grows with a clean straight trunk and has few aerial roots, making it highly suitable for street planting or the home garden. Leathery green leaves and, of course, beautiful red blooms in summer. Very tolerant of coastal conditions but not harsh frost.

Did you know that the name 'Pohutukawa' means 'drenched with spray'? Referring of course to the many beautiful trees growing in precarious positions on NZ's coastline.

Native. Pohutakawa or NZ Christmas Tree. A selected form of our favourite summer tree that has flowers made up of clusters of red stamens that brighten up the green leathery foliage. Happy in a well drained sunny spot with protection from harsh frost especially when young. Evergreen.

aka Tanekaha or Celery Pine

A very handsome native tree with a straight tapering trunk & light grey smooth bark. The green foliage is often described as celery-like hence the common name of Celery Pine. The Maori name Tanekaha means virile & strong. No matter what it's called this is a desirable specimen tree. Evergreen.

aka Norway Spruce

Picea abies or Norway spruce, is a species of spruce native to Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. It has branchlets that typically hang downwards, and the largest cones of any spruce, 9–17 cm long. Makes a lovely potted Christmas tree. Evergreen.

Keep your Abies in a container, and prune back to keep smaller and enjoy each Christmas!

aka Sitka Spruce or Alaska Spruce

Sitka or Alaska Spruce. A slow growing elegant Conifer that always has a well groomed appearance. Sharp pointed, grey-green needles decorate ascending branches that have graceful pendulous tips. Makes a wonderful potted Christmas tree. Can be grown in sun or part shade, prefers deep cool soil. Hardy. Evergreen.

aka Lily of the Valley Shrub

Lily of the Valley Shrub. New foliage emerges a bronze colour and turns green as it ages. In winter clusters of bell shaped dark pink flowers decorate the whole plant. Happiest in part shade and acid soil. Perfect for a pot. Evergreen.

aka Totara

Whilst this evergreen native tree will eventually reach 30m it won't happen in your life time as it is very slow growing. A highly valued native with a special place in Maori history. Dense, bronze green, stiff narrow leaves adorn a handsome pyramidal tree. Estimated height after 10 years.
