Betula aka Birch, is a deciduous hardwood tree, The bark of all birches is characteristically marked with long, horizontal or mottled markings. The bark colour is often used to when naming species – eg white birch, silver birch. Birches are generally small to medium size trees, with a tall trunk and smallish leaves that develop into a light canopy. Trees look fantastic a small garden, adding texture and allowing light to filter through to plants below; planted en mass lining a driveway or in a stand birches look just stunning.

River Birch - Weeping. A delightful cascading form which is perfect for smaller gardens. Attractive fresh green spring and summer foliage that turns yellow before leaf fall. Characteristic flaking bark. Fast growing in sun or part shade. Tolerates quite a bit of moisture. Deciduous. PVR.

I purchased one of these for my own garden about a year ago as I was enchanted by the beautiful shape and fresh green leaves. I have an awkward small courtyard area that sometimes gets quite wet - this tree was the perfect choice and it is doing well.
