Fagus – aka deciduous Beech. An ole English favourite for living colour! Beech, available in upright or weeping forms, comes in a spectacular range of colours – greens, golds, bronze and copper. In April and May as the tree prepares for winter the leaves display a wonderful array of brilliant reds, oranges and golds before they fall. The Beech is a slow growing tree, that will grow in most NZ conditions.

Purple Fastigiate Beech. Originating from Dawyck, Scotland this narrow columnar form of beech is a handsome architectural specimen indeed. Large deep purple foliage on upward growing branches from spring to autumn. Plant in sun or part shade. Deciduous. RHS AGM.

Dawyck Botanic Gardens in Scotland boasts a world-class arboretum where many specimens of Beech tree grow. Fastigiate means branches that taper naturally upwards forming a narrow column of growth.
