It's a wrap as we reflect on 2020
Was that the fastest year ever, that just flashed past, or does it just seem like it because I am getting older and really it's just normal. I have to say that I think we are pretty lucky residing in NZ and on the whole being able to go about life in a pretty normal way, other than all the travel restrictions that have kept Kiwis at home. Perhaps it has been great for the economy as we have all had to spend our earnings locally, supporting all our fellow businesses.
From those uncertain weeks of lock down where I'm pretty sure the nation learnt to cook and garden, not to mention many spending some quality time with each other, learning to live in various levels of socialisation, to what we have now, of pretty much, typical every day life as we knew pre March 2020.
Like all businesses there have been a few challenges over the year and we have had to rewrite the script several times. I feel fortunate that prior to lockdown we already had a working online presence which we easily adapted for becoming a drive through garden centre with click and collect. I'm sure that those who previously didn't use the internet for shopping sure do now and of course that is where we have had to change and adapt.
The poor courier companies were under siege there for a while with record deliveries making their way around Aotearoa and the rural deliverers were literally snowed under. I imagine that the surge around Christmas time will be a doodle compared to the time when we emerged from our homes in May.
So Christmas approaches and then New Years Eve will see the end of 2020 and we will herald in a new year full of hope and promise. I seem to recall doing that last year, here's hoping 2021 will continue to be a year we enjoy bringing in.
Last minute mention about E Vouchers
EVouchers are an excellent way of giving plants for Christmas, without having to worry about them over the Christmas period. Here's a step by step on the online process. You can get them sent to yourself or direct to the person of your choice. Go to the website, type evoucher into the search engine, enter the value of the voucher you want to give, put the email address you want to send the voucher to. Enter any message wanted for the recipient and click Add to cart or Quick add. Then all you have to do is log in or fill in your details if you are new to the website. If you are new to ordering through us it will also want a contact address. Follow the prompts to payment options and complete the transaction. The voucher will be sent to the email address of your choosing.
Finally I would like to thank you, our clients, who have unequivocally supported us online and through our shop and in visiting our nursery. We really do try our best and it's been a frantic year. To my dedicated and hard working team it's a huge thank you and I wish them all the best as many use the summer to take a well deserved break and recharge.
This is our last email for 2020. Cathie and I will resume catching up with you all again Feb, in the new year, with some renewed inspiration and ideas and lots of gorgeous pics. The nursery is open our usual hours of 8am to 5pm, including all stats, we only close for Christmas day. The plants need food and and water, regardless of the holidays, so if you have a hankering for a browse or a mooch, then it's still all go here. I know that at this time of year we have many online clients who visit, just because they have navigated their way to the Tron. It's always lovely to hear about their journey with Wairere Nursery.
As I hear the news around the world of more lockdowns or restricted socialisations in the UK and Germany and the new outbreak in north Sydney beaches that, touch wood, we are so very fortunate, and at this point, able to enjoy Christmas with our family and friends.
