This plant with its masses of yellow-orage red flowers in Spring will tolerate most soils conditions, coastal conditions, drought and frost. Prefers an open sunny position and will require a light trim after flowering. This plant has a low water requirement once established. Prefers full sun to light shade.

Known as the egg and bacon bush and from the flowers you can see why. Fertilise with a long term, slow release fertiliser in spring.

A handsome shrub with large, lustrous, leaves that are lobed and can be up to 30cm across. Panicles of cream flowers in autumn followed by black berries. Quite hardy but happiest in semi-shade - especially in the NZ summer. Stunning container plant. Likes humus rich soil. Evergreen.

If you decide to grow your Fatsia in a container add a little compost or organic matter to the potting mix.
