A good choice for the home garden as the nuts drop when they are ripe, making harvesting the yummy nuts easier. With a high oil content they are an early season variety but does better with another variety to pollinate. With pink flowers Spring and Summer the nuts are ready Autumn through Winter. Evergreen. This Mandarin is very popular in Queensland where it was discovered as a chance seedling in 1888. The virtually thorn-less tree produces large fruit with a thin easy peel skin. Ripens around July. As with all Citrus make sure you cut the fruit off the tree rather than just pull. Your Mandarin will grow well in a warm, well drained fertile spot in the garden with protection from harsh frost. Also suitable for container growing with regular feeding and watering.
