A fabulous dwarf Agapanthus that is well behaved and tidy. Strap like green leaves form a neat clump and from mid spring onwards multiple stems of mid blue flowers appear continuously for months. So easy to grow. Lovely to pick. aka African Lily. Evergreen.

Boysenberries with their sweet taste and just a hint of sharpness are a delicious summer treat. Perfect to eat fresh or for making jams and preserves. Easy to grow but it best to provide some horizontal support. Boysenberries are Floricanes, and fruit on 2nd year canes. Deciduous.

Hybrid Std. This is a delightful little Camellia with semi-double flowers that are white with pink tinges on the petal edges and backs. In full bloom the overall effect is very soft and pretty. An added bonus of fragrance makes this a definite must have. Strong upright growth habit. Evergreen.

This beautiful Camellia is definitely one of my favourites. Introduced from Japan in 1898 so a proven winner! Translation of the name means Snow, Moon and Flowers - isn't that just lovely?

I have a group of these growing against a grey fence in the garden, they are remarkably tolerant of heat and sun though I am sure they would be happier in part shade. Even though the situation is less than ideal they flower for months. Information Page

aka Hornbeam

Hornbeam. Ideal tree for hedging or pleaching. Attractive oval green ribbed foliage that has good autumn tones before turning brown. The leaves hold on the tree well into winter. Smooth grey bark, ornamental catkins in spring followed by ornamental winged seed 'nuts'. Deciduous.

aka Blackcurrant

The Black Currant produces a fruit that is high in Vitamin C with a tart sharp taste. 'Magnus' is disease resistant, a reliable producer and has an upright habit. The currants are ripe late Dec-Jan. Delicious and deciduous.

Black currants will grow in sun or semi-shade. They like deep acid soil that does not completely dry out in summer when the fruit are setting. They fruit on the new seasons wood which develops after pruning.

aka Red Currant

Red currants are a great source of vitamin C. They are easy to grow and form attractive shrubs in the home landscape. The fruit can be picked fresh (if you beat the birds) or used for jams, jellies, juices and pies. Freezes well. Ripe around December-January. Deciduous.

Prune the main shoots of your Red Currant back by about 1/2 in winter to encourage new fruiting laterals. Remember that Red Currants mainly fruit on older wood.

Native. Ake Ake. A useful background or foliage shrub that can be used for screening or hedging. The light green leaves have wavy margins. Fast growing, hardy and adaptable. Tolerates some clipping and will grow just about anywhere but full shade. Evergreen.

The quintessential hedge for traditional English or formal gardens. Soft undulating green foliage that turns reddish brown in autumn and holds on to the tree almost until the new foliage emerges in spring. Smooth grey bark. If left untrimmed forms a large pyramidal tree. Deciduous.

Native. A selected form of the ever popular Griselinia. Gorgeous, broad, glossy green foliage with attractive wavy margins. Ideal background shrub but at its best when used as a hedge. Tolerant of just about any planting conditions including coastal. Very tidy and well groomed. Evergreen.

aka Mophead Hydrangea

Large mid- pink 'Mophead' flowers appear from summer to autumn offset by glossy green foliage. Plant in morning sun or semi-shade in soil that does not completely dry out in summer. Colour may vary depending on soil type. Deciduous.

aka Australian Frangipani

The Australian Frangipani is a fast growing slender tree with glossy, dark green, pointed foliage. In spring and summer the tree is smothered with dainty, highly fragrant creamy-yellow flowers. Needs a sheltered site in full sun with protection from harsh frost and wind. Evergreen.

If you look at the flowers of this tree carefully you will see that it is closely related to our native Pittosporum - in fact they are in the same plant family - CER in action!
