Dwarf Agapanthus. Wide strap-like leaves of dark green that quickly form a tidy clump. The summer flowers are a soft mauve-blue shade flowering just above the foliage. The flowers do not set viable seed and are therefore considered 'eco-friendly'. Happy in the sun. Tough as! Perennial.

Sasanqua. The translation from the Japanese is "Snow on the Ridge" which describes the profusion of double white blooms that smother this Camellia from early Autumn until winter. Highly adaptable, use to espalier, hedge, grow in a container or simply just enjoy in the garden. Evergreen. RHS AGM.

Sasanqua. This is a really good looking Camellia with fine narrow dark green foliage that looks good all year round. In very early autumn the bush is covered in tight buds that open to pretty semi-double flowers are white blushed with rose pink edges. Tolerates sun or shade. Evergreen. PVR CML013.

This Camellia is a great screen or hedging plant. Clips well and always looks good. Remarkably tolerant but will do best in semi-shade with nicely mulched roots. I have 2 of these on different sides of the property and both flower extremely well. Information Page

Sasanqua. One of NZ's favourite Camellias and deservedly so. An abundance of large wavy white blooms with prominent yellow stamens appear in early autumn through to early winter. The blooms are softly scented. Ideal for hedging. Happiest in semi-shade. Evergreen.

An interesting form of our native Coprosma with divaricating pale gold stems and fine foliage with bronzy gold tones. Excellent plant for difficult sites as it is very tough and hardy with the added bonus of being frost hardy. Would make a unique and easy care hedge. Evergreen.

This is a great little shrub that will grow just about anywhere, even dry, windy difficult sites. Narrow green leaves and a 'zig zag' branch pattern certainly add interest as do the bright yellow flowers that appear in spring. Red berries follow the flowers that will attract birds to your garden. What a delightful little 'must have' this Daphne is. Neat and tidy grey-green foliage and dainty white flowers that open from tight pink buds from spring right through to autumn. And of course is has a wonderful fragrance. Slow growing and compact. Happy in sun or part shade. Semi-evergreen. PVR.

Depending on temperature this Daphne may shed some leaves therefore it is known as semi-evergreen. As the growth habit is slow and compact this Daphne would be happy in a container which you could position in order to maximize the lovely fragrance.

Native. A selected form of the ever popular Griselinia. Gorgeous, broad, glossy green foliage with attractive wavy margins. Ideal background shrub but at its best when used as a hedge. Tolerant of just about any planting conditions including coastal. Very tidy and well groomed. Evergreen.

This little Iris has to be one of my favourite NZ natives as it has such dainty white "butterfly" flowers. The narrow sword like leaves form a strong clump, the flowers appear in summer followed by ornamental seed pods. Easy to grow in average soil in a sunny position. Evergreen.

Port Wine Magnolia. The dark wine-red blooms of this adaptable evergreen shrub are a little shy, hiding amongst the glossy green foliage. You'll definitely know they're there when you become intoxicated by the powerful fruity fragrance. Plant in sun or part shade with acid soil for best results.

A particularly nice form of Pittosporum with fresh green glossy foliage that always looks good. Perfect plant for screens and hedging as it responds well to clipping. Happiest in sun or part shade and likes well drained fertile soil, is tolerant of less than ideal conditions. Hardy and evergreen.

Pittosporums bloom in spring with inconspicuous dark purple-brown flowers that will only come to your attention when you notice their strong fragrance on the evening air.
