Evergreen perennial that looks a little bit like a cross between and Iris and a grass. The leaves are attractively striped in shades of chartreuse and cream. The foliage is unusually aromatic. Ideal for planting in bog gardens or at the edge of ponds to a depth of 20cm. Prefers sun.

Sweet Flag. This little perennial from Japan forms a clump of flattened green leaves on short rhizomes both of which have a sweet cinnamon fragrance, especially when dried. Ideal for boggy spots or at pond/stream edges. Quite hardy and easy to grow. Semi-evergreen.

Submerged plant. A popular aquarium plant which can be grown fully submerged. Adaptable to all areas of the pond. The leaves are green from above, while the undersides and stems are light red. Foliage must be above water to produce small white flowers. Full sun to partial shade.

Beautiful marginal plant that will grow easily in wet areas or submerged up to 60 cm deep. Bushy look with rich green leaves and small white flowers. It can grow up to 90 cm tall. In ponds, provides shelter for fish and controls algae. Perennial.

Something a little different! Juncus Spiralis has foliage that twists and turns. This curly variety adds a bit of whimsy to the garden. Great to grow in fun containers such as head shaped pots, great for kids to enjoy because of the plants’ playfulness and irresistibility to touch. Perennial

Don't allow the soil to dry out. Foliage will turn yellow then brown if it gets too dry. It's a good idea to keep your corkscrew rush plant in a pot without a drainage hole. Juncus is native to marsh areas, so it loves soggy soil

A lovely grassy plant that will carpet the bottom of your pond. Needs good light in deep water although otherwise easy to grow. Provides good habitat for goldfish and also helps to oxygenate the water. Can reach 10 to 15 cm in height.

Aquatic. NZ native. Beautiful with its feathery foliage that carpets the water surface. Grows well by the pond edge or near moving water. Can grow at any depth and it will stretch until it reaches the surface. Excellent for fish spawning. Winter tolerant.

Aquatic. This has green pine-tree shoots that grow as a ground cover or can be fully submerged. It will extend up and carpet the water surface when grown submerged. Prefers full sun to shade areas. Relatively winter hardy. Perennial.

Excellent for oxygenating and maintaining clean water and providing protected enviroments for small fish and wildlife.

A delightful slow growing marginal plant with variegated foliage in tones of pink, cream and green. Plant in pots with soil and gravel, or submerge in ponds where it will filter water. Young shoots and leaves can be eaten and are highly valued in Asian cuisine.

This prolific little aquatic plant develops pretty red leaf-tips if grown in bright light. It is easy to grow and will develop leaves of different shapes depending on whether or not it is fully immersed in water. When submerged, the leaves are narrow while emergent plants develop rounded leaves.
