Hypocalymma cordifolia ‘Golden Veil’ is a small shrubby member of the myrtle (eucalypt) family with white and green foliage tipped with new pink growth. The brightly coloured foliage is excellent in a medium sized container as well as in well drained spots in the garden. Evergreen.

The Wonder Tree is particularly valued for the pendulous clusters of red berries that decorate the bare branches in winter. This beautiful Magnolia is indeed a sweetheart with large soft pink blooms with a deeper pink centre. Developed in NZ by Mr Peter Cave. The flowers are fragrant and appear from late winter until spring. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in well drained acid soil. Deciduous.

As this Magnolia has a columnar habit i.e. narrow upright growth it is a perfect choice for smaller gardens.

This tree was bred in NZ and is a vigorous grower and prolific producer of fruit great for Jelly. Harvest the fruit early for Jelly but leave some apples on the tree to decorate the autumn-winter garden. According to the breeder the birds leave the fruit alone which is an added bonus.
