Tea. One of my favourite Tea roses. Nearly always in flower with very fragrant, semi-double peachy-pink flowers. A good example of the refinement and delicacy that Victorian rose-lovers so admired and just as lovely in today's gardens. The stems are relatively thorn free. 1873.

Austin Rose. English Shrub Rose. A fully double rose with soft apricot yellow blooms. Its outstanding fragrance is extremely strong with delicious fruity tones. Is an upright shrub, with bushy growth and light green leaves. A very free-flowering rose. Relatively disease free.

Climber Bourbon. A lovely and long flowering rose with a generous amount of blooms and few thorns. The flowers are fragrant, semi-double, pink and quite charming. Being almost thorn-less it is perfect for a prominent position. Will tolerate some shade. 1919.

Austin Rose. Robust and hardy with full double blooms that appear continuously throughout the season. The buds are a rich orange-red and open to reveal loosely arranged blooms in salmon with a golden yellow reverse on the petals. Nice fragrance and good disease resistance.

Named after the poem/song (Do you remember learning this at school?) The Lady of Shalott written by Alfred Lord Tenneyson. On either side the river lie Long fields of barley and of rye..............

aka Luminis St Johns Rose

Floribunda Std. This Rose was released to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of St. John's NZ. The beautifully cupped blooms are clear white and fragrant and produced in generous clusters. 'Luminis' is Latin for light and this rose will certainly light up your garden when in full bloom.

Moss. Lovely, double, cupped blooms in a soft clear pink which emit a superb fragrance. The flowers are held on an erect mossy stem amid large, dark green foliage. Easily grown and performs well even in slightly poor soil. Recurrent. As the name suggests from France. 1898.

This rose should only be pruned lightly immediately after the first flowering and then only if required.

This is a good rose to use for hedging as it is quite broad in habit being wider than it is tall.

Floribunda. With a name like 'Scent to Remember' you absolutely know that this rose is going to smell delicious and it certainly does. Not only that, it has exquisite, peachy apricot coloured blooms and is seldom without a flower from spring to autumn. Healthy disease resistant foliage. 2006.

Scent to Remember was released by Rob Somerfield of Tauranga in 2006 as a Hospice NZ fundraiser.

Patio. Bred in NZ, this sweet little patio rose has soft creamy white blooms of exquisite form. The centre of the rose has a soft glow of apricot. As you would expect from the name the blooms are beautifully fragrant. Excellent as a cut flower and the foliage shows good disease resistance. 1999.

Sam McGredy named this rose after his friend the late Rex Hotchin who was not at all like a pretty pink floribunda but a good friend worthy of naming a beautiful rose after.

Moss. Very fragrant, large, fully double blooms of pure white (with just the occasional blush) open from buds that are covered in soft green 'moss'. A lovely rose that will perform best if protected from harsh afternoon sun. Prune immediately after the summer flowering if required. 1788.

Hybrid Tea. A popular old hybrid tea with large flowers that have silky petals and a rich fragrance. The petals are a distinctive blend of orange, pink, salmon and soft yellow and contrast beautifully with the glossy green foliage. Hardy, vigorous and reliable, repeats well. 1924.

Climber- Bourbon. This French Madame is truly beautiful. Flowers are blush white with pink shadings and are fragrant. Blooms are flat and quartered and appear in generous quantities in the summer. Loves a warm sheltered spot as when this rose is looking its finest it doesn't like getting wet. 1893.

aka The Dunny Rose

Climbing-Tea. A gorgeous old rose often found adorning barns, fences and out-houses hence it's common name 'The Dunny Rose'. Will tolerate some shade, one of the first roses to flower in spring with fragrant, loosely shaped blooms in shades of pink, yellow and copper. Vigorous with few thorns. 1897.

This rose flowers on 'old wood' so take care not to prune back too hard. Named after the breeder's wife. Generally healthy and disease resistant. Give it room to flourish and you will be rewarded with blooms on and off right through to autumn.
