This is a large Bromeliad with tough, leathery leaves that are slightly ribbed. Inflorescences can be over 2m tall, with many small white flowers. Originally from high altitude areas in Brazil it can tolerate quite cold nights and even a light frost. Also more sun-tolerant than many other Bromeliads
